The Foundation Financial Managers Group (FFMG), continuing its annual effort to provide comparative information on foundation administrative costs, invites you to participate in the 2018 FFMG Administrative Expense Survey. Using data gathered in the survey, FFMG calculates average expense ratios for New York area foundations. Many foundations use these ratios for a group of comparable foundations as part of their budgeting process. Philanthropy New York provides support to the local peer network for private foundation CFOs: Foundation Financial Managers Group (FFMG). Each year, FFMG conducts a survey on foundation administrative costs so executives and trustees may easily compare their data with that of peer foundations.
According to the Foundation Center’s latest annual research study, in 2011 the country’s over 81,000 foundations held $622 billion in assets and distributed $49 billion, an amount estimated to have reached $50.9 billion in 2012. Health and education are the top priorities of the country’s largest foundations, accounting for almost half of all grant dollars.
Supported in part by the Kellogg, Mott, Kresge, and Surdna foundations, this report gathered information on the financial state of food hubs, the numbers and types of farmers and ranchers that they work with and the types of customers they serve.
