A new model for social change will be investigated as those involved in The Young Men’s Initiative Action Plan share their varied experiences. The Initiative has been described as the nation’s boldest and most comprehensive effort to tackle the broad disparities slowing the advancement of black and Latino young men. This cross-agency enterprise is the culmination of 18 months of work begun when Mayor Bloomberg committed in his 2010 State of the City address to find new ways to tackle the crisis.
Over a dozen agencies helped to design this Initiative and will be responsible for its implementation. Funding includes $67.5 million from the City; $30 million from the Open Society Foundations; and $30 million from Bloomberg Philanthropies.
