Young people across New York City continue to navigate deep inequities in education, housing, mental health, employment, and economic opportunity, while community-based organizations remain essential sources of support, stability, and care. As city leadership takes shape, this moment presents an important opportunity to strengthen coordination and collaboration across government, philanthropy, and the nonprofit sector in support of young people and families.

Under the leadership of Commissioner Sandra Escamilla-Davies, the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) enters a new chapter grounded in youth development, community partnership, and equity. Drawing on decades of experience across the nonprofit and public sectors, Commissioner Escamilla-Davies brings a deep commitment to building systems that respond to the realities and strengths of young people and communities across New York City.

Please join us for an in-person conversation with Commissioner Escamilla-Davies and the DYCD team on the agency’s vision and priorities for supporting young people, families, and community-based organizations across New York City. The discussion will explore key areas including afterschool programming, youth employment, and more.

What will you learn?

  • Commissioner Escamilla-Davies’ vision and priorities for DYCD and the city’s youth-serving ecosystem
  • How DYCD is approaching youth development through community partnership and cross-sector collaboration
  • Emerging opportunities and challenges facing young people, families, and community-based organizations across New York City
  • How philanthropy, government, and nonprofit partners can work together to better support youth and communities across the city
