The Foundation Administrators Network (FAN) is a Philanthropy New York professional peer network of HR and operations professionals at member grantmaking organizations. FAN hosts quarterly meetings on a broad range of topics relevant to HR and operations administration.

The social impact sector is facing a growing crisis. The lack of deep investments in programs, policies, and practices to promote overall wellbeing and supportive environments are driving staff to leave their roles and the sector at alarming rates. Burnout, increasing stress, and growing political instability are just a few of the reasons senior leaders cited as reasons for leaving or considering leaving their current roles.

The team at The Memo I Never Got (MING) and On-Ramps have recently published a report to examine trends in the field: Sustaining & Retaining Senior Leaders in The Social Sector. This work showcases crucial insights into what senior leaders in the field need to not just survive, but thrive in their roles. And the findings - and recommendations - can extend to staff on all levels across your organization.

Please join us for this interactive in-person meeting that will include breakout discussions to support peer learning exchanges about strategies and lessons learned as folks have attempted to address burnout at their organizations.

What will you learn?

  • How employee health impacts engagement, culture, and organizational performance
  • Wellness practices to support you and your employees during challenging times
  • How to consider the unique needs of specific and intersectional identity groups to inform the design of wellness policies, initiatives, and training programs
  • How to support people managers to promote health and well-being and put plans into action
  • How to empower staff members to individually invest in their health and well-being and utilize self-efficacy to turning ideas into action
  • Strategies and initiatives to ensure that all leaders have the clarity and skills to help staff feel supported and safe in their work environment

Who should attend?

All interested members, especially members who are people-managers and members of FAN, as well as prospective FAN members who have a responsibility for foundation administration, including human resources and operations. What to expect: presentation and breakout discussions.
