AI won't replace humans. Humans using AI will replace humans not using AI. — Daniel Pink
AI will amplify the power of humans who use it thoughtfully.
As AI transforms the philanthropic sector, how prepared is your organization to harness its potential while navigating the ethical challenges? Are you wondering how to separate the hype from genuine opportunities in AI?
This hands-on workshop deciphers artificial intelligence for your foundation. Rather than diving into technical complexities, we'll focus on practical applications, real-world implications, and ethical considerations that matter most to foundations considering implementing AI into their daily processes. Starting with the basics to build foundational understanding and establish baseline knowledge, we'll empower participants to approach AI as a tool to amplify human judgment and empathy - not replace it.
We'll hear case studies from foundations who have already began to develop AI literacy and a framework for responsible AI. Through interactive demonstrations and guided discussions, participants will gain confidence in understanding and leveraging AI tools while maintaining alignment with their organizational missions and culture.
What will you learn?
- Develop a clear understanding of generative AI's capabilities and limitations to make informed decisions about its implementation in your HR, IT, Ops work
- Identify specific opportunities where AI can enhance your organization's impact while recognizing potential ethical pitfalls
- Learn practical strategies for integrating and optimizing AI tools into your daily processes, from grants managing and due dilience to hiring
- Build a framework for assessing AI-related risks and opportunities, with considerations of our racial equity and/or DEI commitments
- How to set boundaries, be aware of security issues, and where to find additional resources
Who should attend?
All interested members, especially members who are people-managers and members of FAN, as well as prospective FAN members who have a responsibility for foundation administration, including human resources and operations. This workshop is for everyone in philanthropy who's curious about AI but doesn't want to become a tech expert. What to expect: presentation and discussion.
