A program of Philanthropy Connects, Philanthropy New York's policy committee, presented with the Donors' Education Collaborative, The Black Male Donor Collaborative, and the Public Education Grantmakers Network.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: All interested funders.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This is the second session in a series designed by Philanthropy New York and the Donors’ Education Collaborative (DEC) to inform grantmakers about realistic options for significantly improving and even transforming low-performing public schools.

Our first session, which focused on how to identify schools that are failing their students and what to do about them, noted the tremendous challenges of turning around a school, especially in a short time (2 – 3 years).  In this session, we will explore with researchers and practitioners what the key levers for transforming schools are and how funders might help schools and their communities push them.
