Beyond Islamophobia: How American Stories are Transforming Communities aims to highlight fresh thinking from artists and activists who disrupt the noxious, bigoted cultural narrative to advance cross-community understanding and social cohesion for mutual well-being of Muslim, Arab and South Asian (MASA) and the broader non-MASA communities. Moving beyond the defensive frame of fighting Islamophobia, speakers will share their fresh thinking and experience in the public square to inspire and encourage engagement and support for this work through unique storytelling.
This funders briefing will build on the 2017 The Roles of Arts & Culture to Address Islamophobia funders briefing conversations.
The goal for our learning is to continue to stimulate a cross-pollination of ideas, strengthen connections and plant seeds for greater collaboration among funders working in this area and along aligned intersections.
