Youth organizers have played a critical role in New York’s organizing history. Today, young people are leading transformative movements for change in New York, including imagining police-free schools, advancing restorative justice through solutions not suspensions, campaigning for major climate justice legislation and defending the rights of undocumented young people. Even so, youth organizing and youth-led organizations are drastically underfunded—especially in rural areas across New York.
In 2024, North Star Fund hosted its first Youth Organizing Summit gathering over 50 youth leaders from across New York State to offer youth-centered organizing training and hear about what they need from philanthropy to win! Please join us for an interactive conversation with youth leaders from the Summit about the challenges facing youth organizers in New York, as well as opportunities for the philanthropic sector to invest more deeply in their work. We will also be celebrating the launch of North Star Fund’s first ever youth organizing report — register to hear highlights from youth leaders and join the discussion.
