Inequity stifles creativity, and creativity is necessary to address inequity.
- Carolyn Peters, Philanthropy New York
Are you looking to sharpen your editorial skills to amplify your voice and influence philanthropic practice or the field as a whole?
And/Or, are you seeking ways to think expansively and tap into an artistic practice that can help you spark change on an individual, organizational, or community level?
We’re thrilled to partner with Dara Joyce Lurie, Author, Writer, and Co-Director of Black Stories Matter at TMI Project, to offer a dynamic skills-building workshop on Liberatory Storytelling. This workshop fosters a safe space for dreaming, creative exploration, and speculative inquiry, empowering you to unlock the storyteller within and nurture original, innovative thinking.
Designed For
Philanthropy New York members who identify as changemakers, no matter their role or tenure. Whether you’re developing an editorial piece or seeking new ways to activate your creativity for change, we invite you to join us.
What will you learn?
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Write freely, without self-judgment, and share your work without shame
- Infuse joy and energy into your language
- Embrace ambiguity with comfort
- Protect and hold space for creative discovery
- Experience writing as an embodied practice, not just an intellectual exercise
- Lean into your curiosity, fears, joys, and sorrows as sources of inspiration
We invite you to join us as we practice liberation through storytelling that explores our sources of connection, vulnerability, and play.
