In 2022, as the Adams Administration was newly stepping into office, PNY hosted a series of programs that identified several dimensions of criminal legal reform.  These programs highlighted the experiential knowledge of key nonprofit and philanthropic leaders as well as the structural and cultural components of public policy and narrative change. A year later, we are creating an opportunity to reconvene, re-ground, and cultivate community to understand the current state of affairs, the efforts of nonprofits and philanthropy to advance criminal legal reforms, practice healing justice, and collectively disrupt the criminal legal system.

To ground our roundtable discussion, we invite attendees to arrive at 2:00pm to participate in a guided tour of Ford Foundation Gallery’s latest exhibition, No Justice Without Love. Curated by Daisy Desrosiers, this exhibition includes thought-provoking artwork by formerly incarcerated and allied artists alongside submissions by former and current grantees of the Art for Justice Fund. As a whole, the exhibition creates “new aesthetics around humanity, resilience, and self-determination, while elevating themes of redemption, rehabilitation, and transformation.”

At 2:45pm, we will commence a roundtable conversation with nonprofit and philanthropic leaders on key criminal legal issues including youth justice, #CloseRikers, bail reform; as well as how leaders are addressing these issues using credible restorative and healing justice approaches. We will also hear how philanthropic leaders are organizing to stand in allyship with nonprofits to maximize impact.

Join us for an afternoon of community-building and learning to inspire collective action that disrupts the criminal legal system.
