The NYC Youth and Education Funders Working Group hosts bi-monthly, funders only webinar to share philanthropic responses and organizing efforts around COVID-19.
Every two weeks, the group will invite representatives from philanthropy, government and nonprofit organizations to share real time updates about COVID-19 related policy issues, advocacy efforts and service-delivery challenges that impact NYC’s students and youth.
Given the COVID-19 crisis, city agencies and a coalition of youth development providers, intermediaries, and employers known as Youth Empowerment Summer (YES) 2020 have been developing a plan to provide virtual work-based learning experiences that build career awareness and work readiness skills for young adults who would have participated in the traditional SYEP program. A month ago, the YES coalition and the City provided an introductory overview on how they were thinking about engaging youth this summer, what public funding might be available to support programming, and how private funders could potentially contribute. Now, they are ready to provide more detail.
