Legal scholar and author Michelle Alexander joins Ford as a senior fellow, contributing to the foundation’s work on democracy, rights, and justice. Michelle is a renowned and respected civil rights lawyer and legal scholar whose work has been foundational to racial justice movements over the past two decades. Her best-selling book, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, has spurred debate and action nationwide. In her role at Ford, Michelle will continue her advocacy efforts while working on a new book that addresses the practical questions involved in building a transformative human rights movement.
