Stephanie Teatro appointed US Program Director, Unbound Philanthropy

Unbound Philanthropy is delighted to announce the appointment of Stephanie Teatro as US Program Director. She joined in January.

In this role, Stephanie leads Unbound Philanthropy’s US Program, to advance Unbound’s mission to invest in leaders and organizations in the US and UK contributing to vibrant, welcoming societies and just immigration systems, as part of pluralist, inclusive democracies.

“We are thrilled to welcome Stephanie to Unbound as our US Program Director,” said Taryn Higashi, Executive Director of Unbound Philanthropy. “We feel so fortunate to be able to benefit from Stephanie's visionary and strategic leadership, exceptional subject matter expertise, collaborative nature, and passion.”

Stephanie has a rich array of experience across Unbound Philanthropy’s focus areas, including immigration, immigrant inclusion, and climate and migrant justice. Stephanie was most recently the Director of Climate Justice and Migration at the National Partnership for New Americans. In this role, she led the Climate Justice Collaborative, an initiative to build the capacity of immigrant justice organizations to powerfully join the fight for climate justice. The Collaborative works to ensure that climate policy is inclusive of immigrants, that immigrants and all frontline communities are protected from the worst impacts of climate change, and that the U.S. is a global leader in preparing for and welcoming people displaced by climate impacts.

Stephanie was trained as a labor organizer with AFSCME; she is the former Co-Executive Director of the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition; and served as the Managing Director of Resilience Force, a national organization working to defend the rights of the largely immigrant workforce who rebuild after climate disasters. The National Partnership for New Americans, TIRRC, and Resilience Force are all grantee partners of Unbound Philanthropy.

Originally from Canada, Stephanie lives in Nashville, Tennessee where she is active with local organizations and campaigns to build movement infrastructure and strengthen democracy in the South.
