Unbound Philanthropy Announces the Appointment of Three New Staff Members
Unbound Philanthropy is delighted to announce the appointment of three new staff members. “We feel incredibly fortunate to be working with such a strong, talented team,” said Taryn Higashi, Executive Director of Unbound Philanthropy.
Laura Huizar, US Senior Program Officer, joined in March. Laura was previously the Acting Deputy Solicitor at the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) under the Biden-Harris Administration after serving as Senior Counsel in the Department’s Office of the Solicitor. Prior to joining USDOL, Laura was the Immigrant Worker Justice Program Director at the National Employment Law Project (NELP) in Washington, D.C. Laura joined NELP in 2015 and also served as a senior staff attorney and the Legal Director of the Local Solutions Support Center’s Joint Project with NELP, a project focused on local authority and state preemption of local laws. Laura’s background includes a variety of other immigrant rights, worker rights, and economic justice-related work, including an Equal Justice Works Fellowship at LatinoJustice PRLDEF and a Marvin M. Karpatkin Fellowship with the American Civil Liberties Union’s Racial Justice Program. Laura received a B.A. from Yale College and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
Taína Colón, US Program Assistant, joined in December. Prior to Unbound, Taína worked at the Climate Reality Project, where she initially supported and later managed their Climate Justice for All Grants program, working closely with grassroots groups and environmental justice organizations. Taína is a passionate environmental advocate and a graduate of Fordham University, where she earned a degree in Environmental Studies and Spanish Language & Literature. Taína is a second-generation Puerto Rican, raised in New York.
Zoe Moskowitz, Program Assistant for the Executive Office, joined in December. Zoe supports the Executive Director and the foundation-wide Climate and Migrant Justice Initiative through project management, program operations, and administrative duties. Zoe brings experience in civic engagement, international education, and immigrant advocacy, having worked at organizations such as The Carter Center and NextGen America. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Emory University and is fluent in French. Originally from Burlington, Vermont, Zoe‘s formative experiences in a diverse refugee resettlement community and living in India and France have deepened her commitment to pursuing social justice locally, nationally, and globally.
