New York Life announced today that Michael Burke has joined the company as chief operating officer, New York Life Foundation and corporate vice president in the Corporate Responsibility Department. He reports to Heather Nesle, president of the New York Life Foundation.
Mr. Burke is responsible for New York Life’s internal operations, including fiscal oversight, non-profit oversight, vendor and project management and general governance. He is also on the team that sets overall strategy for Corporate Responsibility. Prior to joining New York Life, he served as chief operating officer of the Brooklyn Community Foundation, the largest foundation exclusively dedicated to supporting Brooklyn-based nonprofits. Prior to that, Mr. Burke helped found and was the chief operating officer of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, a local development corporation dedicated to supporting the redevelopment of the City’s third largest business district.
Mr. Burke received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbia College, and a master’s degree in public administration from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. He is originally from Wisconsin, and now resides in Jersey City, N.J. with his fiancé Evan.
