Pinkerton Promotes Jill Bregenzer to Chief Operating Officer

January 5, 2024--Jill Bregenzer has been named Chief Operating Officer of The Pinkerton Foundation, President and CEO Rick Smith announced today. Bregenzer joins Vice President and Executive Director of Programs Laurie Dien and Smith in the Foundation’s senior leadership team.

“Jill has become a trusted and highly valued partner in managing the Foundation’s financial, human resources, and administrative affairs,” said Smith. “Her skills alone justify this promotion, but it’s her good heart and deep commitment to Pinkerton’s programmatic mission that make her a very special member of our team.”

Along with her new responsibilities, Bregenzer will continue to serve on the board of Nonprofit New York and to play a program role by managing a small portfolio of Pinkerton grantees.

Bregenzer joined the Foundation in 2011. Her career path included twelve years at PricewaterhouseCoopers. At PwC, she was a Senior Audit Manager on a number of major domestic and international accounts, and a Human Resources Manager working on compensation and training matters. She graduated from Union College and received an MBA from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester.

The Pinkerton Foundation was established in 1966 by Robert Allan Pinkerton, the Chairman and CEO of Pinkerton’s, Inc., the corporate successor of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency. The Foundation, which retains no connection with the security company, supports community-based organizations serving economically-disadvantaged young people in New York City. Many of the programs take place in after-school, weekend or summer hours and focus on providing opportunities for academic development, career readiness, cultural enrichment and youth leadership. Pinkerton also supports a number of mentoring, training and internship programs that offer a way forward for young people involved in the criminal justice system or after years in foster care.
