The Foundation for Child Development Announces a New Manager of Finance and Administration and Three New Appointments to Its Board of Directors
NEW YORK, NY — The Foundation for Child Development announced that Ryan Carter has been named the new Manager of Finance and Administration. The Foundation also welcomed three new members, Virginia Klein, Salvatore LaSpada, and George Andrew White III, to its Board of Directors.
Ryan is responsible for the financial and operational aspects of the Foundation. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role. Ryan holds a B.A. and M.A. in Economics from Hunter College of the City University of New York where he completed his master’s thesis on reducing new teacher turnover rates.
“Ryan brings a solid background in finance and administration to the Foundation, and we are delighted to welcome him to the team,” said President and CEO Jacqueline Jones.
The new Board members will work towards advancing the mission of the Foundation. They will lend their specific expertise to help guide and strengthen the Foundation’s finance and governance policies.
“These three extraordinary individuals bring expertise in investment management and board governance that will serve us well for many years to come,” said Dr. Jones. “We are honored to have them join the Foundation’s Board and look forward to the valued perspectives and insights they will bring.”
Virginia Klein is Executive Vice President at Lombard International and Head of the Investments function, which includes asset manager origination, onboarding, relationship management, and due diligence. Virginia has over 20 years of experience delivering investments, with a focus on alternative investments, to institutional and high-net-worth investors. She received her B.A. in Political Science from Clemson University and her MBA from the McDonough School at Georgetown University.
Salvatore LaSpada, M.Ed., Ed.D., is the CEO of Alchemy Philanthropy. As an internationally recognized leader in strategic philanthropy, Dr. LaSpada works with foundations in designing governance, developing strategy, assessing impact, and managing inter-generational leadership transitions. He holds a B.A. in Classics (Ancient Greek and Latin) from Haverford College, an M.A. in Communications from Temple University, and an M.Ed. and Ed.D. in International Education and Development from Columbia University.
George Andrew White III is an Executive Director at UBS Asset Management. Drew spent the first 15 years of his career trading and managing risk across developing economies. He now works within the Asset Management division at UBS focusing primarily on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Environmental, Social, and Governance, and Sustainable Investments across the alternative asset space. Drew earned his B.S. from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
The new members join Board Chair H. Melvin Ming, Vice Chair Dr. Marilou Hyson, Treasurer Walter K. Frye, Secretary Dr. Velma McBride Murry, and members Gregg Auerbach, Dr. Cynthia García Coll, Dr. Elena Fuentes-Afflick, Dr. Lynn A. Karoly, Dr. Tammy Mann, and Dr. Joseph Tobin.
