The Bernard and Anne Spitzer Charitable Trust Announces Ian Philp as New Program Officer for the Environment

The Bernard and Anne Spitzer Charitable Trust is delighted to announce that Ian Philp has joined the Trust as its new Program Officer for the Environment. His portfolio includes grants aimed at managing the risks of climate change, including support for organizations promoting clean energy technology innovation and addressing the climate impacts of food systems.

Ian came to the Trust from the Canadian Consulate in New York City where he served as Head of Energy and Environment, helping Canadian clean-tech companies find investors and customers in the American market.  As part of this role, Ian designed and built the CTA Climatetech, Canada’s largest international climatetech accelerator program.  Previously, Ian planned and launched the MaRS Advanced Energy Centre, a public-private partnership focused on creating global markets for Canadian clean technology.  He also worked as an international trade lawyer with the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and was a legal and constitutional advisor on a United Nations team assisting the Iraqi government with post-conflict legal reconstruction.  Ian has his MBA from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales in Montreal, an LL.B and B.C.L from McGill University, and a B.A. in Economics and International Relations from McMaster University.  He will start with the Trust on July 6th.
