Carolina Espinal Elected Schott Foundation Board Chair
The Schott Foundation for Public Education board of directors has elected Carolina Espinal as chair. A member of the Schott Foundation’s board since 2018, she brings experience as an advisor with expertise in strategic communications and diversity, equity & inclusion.
Carolina began her career as a civil rights advocate working on behalf of communities of color at Unidos US and later leading the NAACP’s national civic engagement policy platform. Through her work she has also engaged and supported other leading nonprofit organizations on issues including education, financial literacy, and access to technology.
Carolina is the founding principal of Mozaic Strategies, a consultancy focused on creating more inclusive organizational culture and engagement. Prior to that, she served as a senior advisor with Brunswick Group, a global strategic communications firm supporting Fortune 500 companies in a range of sectors including education. As a leader of the firm’s inclusion & diversity specialist offer, she supported the launch of CEO Action on Diversity & Inclusion™ - the largest CEO-driven initiative focused on diversity and inclusion.
Carolina earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia and a Master of Education from Harvard University and currently serves on the Board of Visitors for the Virginia Commonwealth University.
