Mark Gilbert is the new Planning Director in the Jewish Communal Network Commission at the UJA-Federation of New York. He has been a student, participant and passionate advocate of civil society organizations since high school, when he was trained as a community organizer by Cesar Chavez’ United Farmworker’s Union.
Gilbert has more than 30 years of experience working for and with not-for-profit organizations to effectively and sustainably advance social missions. He has worked as a grantmaker for the Jerusalem Foundation, has managed arts organizations in the United States and Israel and—prior to joining the UJA-Federation of New York—was a not-for-profit management consultant to major performing arts institutions across the United States, specializing in strategic operations and business planning, financial management and multi-organization collaborations and restructuring.
