The opposition to reproductive rights in this country employs many different tactics that target a variety of communities, from the criminalization of pregnant women, to promoting myths like Asian American women giving birth to more boys than girls because they are engaging in sex-selective practices.
Join us for a discussion among community and foundation leaders on the impact of this targeting of different communities, and how leading organizations in these communities are fighting back by joining forces with those leading other social justice-related movements, from immigrant rights, health reform, and those combating the war on drugs.
Speakers will discuss the implications on reproductive rights of the recent Supreme Court Hobby Lobby Contraceptive Case decision, which determined that for-profit corporations, citing religious objections, can refuse to provide some, or potentially all, contraceptive services in health plans offered to employees under the Affordable Care Act. And they will provide perspective on why funders who don't necessairly do grantmaking in reproductive rights and justice should care and should consider contributions that can help address reproductive rights and justice as part of broader social movement building and justice agendas.
