The Arcus Foundation, a leading global foundation advancing pressing social justice and conservation issues, has announced that Jason McGill will join the Foundation as Vice President, Social Justice Program.Arcus' Social Justice Program works to enable lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals and families to live their lives with dignity and respect wherever they are in the world. The program comprises three integrated portfolios: Global Religions, International Human Rights and U.S. Social Justice.
McGill is currently Vice President of Member Services at Philanthropy New York, where he leads a range of programs to enhance the impact of its more than 280 member foundations. Prior to Philanthropy New York, he was Director of Alumni and Philanthropy Programs at Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), an initiative devoted to enhancing philanthropy among professionals of color. Before SEO, McGill led curriculum development for Prep for Prep, an initiative focused on cultivating ethics and leadership among youth of color. Earlier in his career, McGill taught History at Swarthmore College, Rutgers University and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

McGill holds Bachelor's degrees in Sociology and in Urban and Regional studies from Cornell University, and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Michigan.
