While funders tend to think of our organizations as highly ethical, organizationally conservative and unlikely to face public controversy, foundation crises do frequently arise. How often do we read news about situations like these?
- A foundation CEO has a falling out with the board and the vague “resignation” announcement leaves grantees wondering and the media asking inopportune questions.
- A foundation committed to being a nonpartisan information provider is caught in the political cross-hairs when its work is claimed by one side of a charged issue.
