Valerie S. Peltier Elected Chairman of The New York Community Trust

Valerie S. Peltier has been elected chairman of The New York Community Trust's Distribution Committee, the governing board of the 90-year-old foundation dedicated to improving New York.

Peltier succeeds Charlynn Goins, who is stepping down after five years as chairman. Goins will remain a member of the board.

Peltier is a Managing Director of Tishman Speyer, a global real estate firm. She has served on the board of The Trust since 2008, after she was nominated by the Chairman of the Partnership for New York City. Born and raised in New York City, Peltier is a graduate of Harvard College, and received her J.D. from Columbia Law School.

"As a lifelong New Yorker, I am amazed by the incredible ingenuity and diversity of this City displayed in each new set of grants," Peltier said. The Trust, with $2.4 billion in assets, is one of New York's largest grantmakers. It gave $141 million to nonprofits last year.
