Tony Haile, CEO of startup Scroll.com and founding CEO of Chartbeat, today joined Media Development Investment Fund's Board of Directors. Tony brings more than a decade of experience at the cutting edge of digital media, in both analytics and content, to help guide MDIF’s investments in independent news businesses in countries with challenging media environments.

“We are thrilled that Tony has agreed to join our Board of Directors,” said Harlan Mandel, MDIF CEO. “Tony has a deep understanding of digital media and the data analytics that lie at the heart of any successful modern media business. He will make a vital contribution to the future development of our investment portfolio, and MDIF as a mission-first investment fund.”

Previously Tony was founding CEO of Chartbeat, the web analytics company that works with 80% of the top publishers in the US and in more than 60 countries around the world, providing data to help outlets optimize reader engagement and loyalty.

Tony currently teaches a course on media disruption at Stanford University and was Adjunct Professor of Journalism at Columbia University. He sits on the board of the Lenfest Institute for Journalism and the Weber Shandwick Innovation Council, and has been named one of the 100 Most Creative People in Business by FastCompany, and 40 under 40 by Crain’s NY Business.
