Tides has announced the appointment of Kriss Deiglmeier as its new CEO. Deiglmeier is recognized as a pioneer in the social innovation field and most recently was the founding Executive Director for the Center for Social Innovation (CSI) at Stanford University in Palo Alto. For the past ten years, she established CSI as a global leader in the emerging social innovation field. Deiglmeier has more than 20 years of senior management experience that spans the social enterprise, business, nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. “Tides has often been called the original social innovator of contemporary times so it is exciting to consider what Kriss Deiglmeier will add to make Tides stronger and better for the future. Tides is a platform full of possibility that will grow with new leadership,” said Stephanie Clohesy, current Chair of Tides Network. Clohesy continued, “As 2014 begins, Tides is ready for a bright future thanks to the insightful and steady leadership of our Interim CEO, Gary Schwartz, who guided Tides well over the past 10 months.”
"My vision for Tides is a reinvigorated and innovative platform that sees trends as they are being created, and in doing so, actively leads the progressive agenda for the 21st Century. By working collaboratively with existing and new partners, opening up to emerging business models and strengthening its core assets, Tides will continue to lead in creating a more just, sustainable and healthy environment where human rights are preserved," said Deiglmeier.
Deiglmeier has presented nationally and internationally on social innovation, corporate social responsibility, social entrepreneurship and public-private partnerships, as well as guest-lectured at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, and various Japanese Universities. She has co-authored a number of articles, with her most recent entitled "Rediscovering Social Innovation." Gary Schwartz stated, “It is with great excitement that we prepare for Kriss Deiglmeier’s arrival as Tides’ new CEO in February! Kriss brings a remarkable background from her many years in the social innovation field, and we look forward to welcoming her. It has been an honor to have stepped into the Interim CEO role for these last several months, and I look forward to returning to my role as Senior Vice President of Tides.” Deiglmeier will officially start as Tides CEO on February 19, and Gary Schwartz will re-assume full duties as Senior Vice President and Senior Advisor to the CEO.
