Tides Announces Janiece Evans-Page as New Chief Executive Officer
SAN FRANCISCO — The Tides Network Board of Directors is proud to announce Janiece Evans-Page as its next Chief Executive Officer.
Following an extensive search process, the Board concluded that Evans-Page’s lifelong passion for social and racial justice and her track record of transformational leadership make her the perfect choice to lead Tides as the organization enters its 45th year of pioneering innovative solutions to address society’s most critical issues.
“As a dynamic changemaker, innovative intrapreneur, and purpose-driven leader, Janiece has invested nearly 30 years driving strategic initiatives that optimize economic and societal value,” said Jason Wingard, Co-Chair of Tides Network Board of Directors. “She has consistently led successful change efforts that inspire and advance philanthropic and social impact. The Tides global community is privileged and honored to welcome Janiece as its next CEO.”
Tides’ vision is a world of shared prosperity and social justice. The Tides Network serves as a philanthropic and nonprofit partner accelerating the pace of social change, working with innovative partners to solve society’s toughest problems.
As the inaugural Chief Sustainability and Diversity Officer and Head of Fossil Foundation, Janiece launched Fossil Group’s global philanthropy practice, leading the strategic modernization of Fossil Group’s global philanthropic investment portfolio. She was also the architect of the organization’s signature initiative, empowering youth through innovative partnerships with social entrepreneurs. She was named Vice President of Global Philanthropy and Sustainability in 2013 and, to date, the Fossil Foundation has impacted the lives of more than 750,000 underserved young people around the globe. During her 20-plus year career at the Hewlett-Packard Company, Evans-Page’s accomplishments included the transformation of HP’s $20M philanthropy portfolio. In 2018, she was honored by Ebony magazine as one of its Power 100 awardees in the “Women Up” category.
“I am thrilled to be joining Tides and to be part of the amazing work they are doing to bring together the most innovative entrepreneurs in the civic arena, with partners and catalysts that can bring their work to ever higher levels of impact,” said Evans-Page. “I have seen firsthand the need for paradigm-shifting solutions for our world’s most challenging problems, and I have committed my life, both professional and personal, to being part of those solutions. I look forward to working with Tides leadership, staff, partners, and Tides’ larger ecosystem to bring about the change and justice that our communities so desperately need.”
The appointment of Tides’ new leadership comes at a time of national challenge as the country and the world reckon with the COVID-19 pandemic, systemic racism, and the ravaging consequences of climate change. These overlapping crises continue to lay bare the deep inequities in health care, education, economic opportunity, and beyond. Evans-Page will take the helm as Tides seeks to broaden the reach of its impact and deepen its commitment to social change with dynamic tools, deep expertise, novel collaborations, and innovative ideas.
To date, Tides has managed more than $4 billion in global grantmaking and project-based initiatives, sponsored over 1,400 nonprofit social ventures, and helped launch a diverse portfolio of leading organizations. Key current partners include: Environmental Working Group, the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights, Social Venture Network, and Pledge 1%, a global corporate philanthropy movement that engages business leaders and their employees to give back to local and national social causes.
“I could not be more pleased and honored to welcome our new CEO to Tides,” said Tuti Scott, who has served as Tides’ interim CEO since August 2019, following nine years on the Tides Network Board, including three years as Board Chair. “Janiece has honed an inner resilience as a bold leader inside large systems, a gracious style and sense of humor, and an unrelenting focus on making purposeful change. I know she will bring that same drive and passion to Tides.”
Evans-Page will join Tides as CEO on January 4, 2021.
