Russell Pennoyer Joins William T. Grant as Board Chair

William T. Grant Foundation is pleased to announce Russell Pennoyer as the new Chair of the Board of Trustees. Pennoyer succeeds Henry Gooss, who has served in the role since 2009. Pennoyer, a senior advisor to Brittany Capital Group, rotated off the board in June 2014 after serving four consecutive terms, including that as Chair of the Foundation’s Finance and Investment committee from 2009 until 2014.

“It’s a great honor to return to the Foundation as Board Chair. The Foundation is a preeminent force in the field of social science research, and is overseen by a highly talented Board of Trustees, making this all the more inspiring for me. It is also humbling to succeed Hank Gooss who led the Foundation so ably,” said Pennoyer.

Pennoyer has extensive experience raising capital for private equity, venture capital, and hedge funds from institutional investors throughout the world. Prior to joining Brittany Capital in 2014, he spent 20 years with Benedetto, Gartland & Company, a leading private equity placement agent, where he was a partner and ultimately president. Pennoyer is also a trustee of the Hudson Institute and the New-York Historical Society, and president of the Achelis and Bodman Foundations. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Columbia Law School.

“I am delighted to welcome Russell back to the Foundation. He brings a unique perspective to the Foundation: an interest in our programmatic work and financial acumen,” said Adam Gamoran, Foundation president. “With the launch of our new initiative to better understand and respond to inequality among young people, Russell joins the Board at a very exciting time. At the same time, the departure of Hank Gooss is a great loss. We are very grateful to Hank for his leadership.”
