Rona Sheramy Appointed Executive Director of the Jewish Foundation for Education of Women

The Board of Directors of the Jewish Foundation for Education of Women (JFEW) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rona Sheramy as its next Executive Director, effective February 15, 2017. Dr. Sheramy joins JFEW from the Association of Jewish Studies (AJS). In her capacity as Executive Director at AJS, she worked to support and expand the mission of the largest learned society and professional organization dedicated to the advancement of Jewish Studies scholarship and teaching.   An accomplished scholar and author, Rona graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan and received a PhD from Brandeis University in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies. She has published numerous articles and is a frequent speaker and panel participant at conferences relating to Jewish Studies and education. She has also worked extensively with graduate students and young scholars providing career coaching and professional guidance. Sheramy commented:  “I am thrilled and honored to join JFEW, an organization dedicated for more than a century to women’s education and economic advancement. JFEW’s core beliefs -  that education is essential to women’s advancement and socio-economic mobility, and that educated women in turn strengthen their families and communities - could not be more relevant than in our society today. I eagerly anticipate working with JFEW’s dedicated Board of Directors, skilled staff, and talented grantees in furthering this critical mission.”
