This statement has been shared by the New York City Youth Funders:

It is with a heavy heart that we share the incredibly sad news of Janet Kelley’s passing on Thursday, January 23rd, 2020 after a long illness. Janet genuinely enjoyed working with the Youth Funders Network and corralling us for more than 12 years.

As the Founding Executive Director of the Partnership for After School Education (PASE), Janet was a skilled and innovative leader who believed in bringing people and organizations together to better serve youth and families. Janet threw out a wide net including as many as she possibly could – an early enactor of DEI. She was widely recognized for her contributions to out-of-school time education and the youth development field. Some interesting early career facts – Janet was the Director of Call For Action, a telephone helpline organization affiliated with many radio and TV stations throughout the US; Director of Career Development at the Court Employment Project (now CASES); and seminar designer at the United Nations Church Center. With a B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan and a Master’s in Divinity from Yale, Janet was a force – always positive, encouraging and self-effacing. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial will be held on Thursday, February 20th at 3:00 p.m. at Old First Reformed Church in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Old First is located at 729 Carroll Street at the corner of 7th Avenue.
