Reader's Digest Partners for Sight Foundation Welcomes New Board Member: Janice O’Connor
Reader’s Digest Partners for Sight Foundation is pleased to announce that Janice O’Connor has joined the Board of Directors. Ms. O’Connor recently retired as Director/Bureau of Field Operations and Implementation for the New York State Commission for the Blind, where she led seven district offices throughout the state, and managed service delivery for legally blind New York residents, with a focus on independent living, vocational rehabilitation and employment. Prior to assuming the Director title, she had served as the District Manager for Long Island and Queens. Ms. O’Connor had also worked as the Manager of Placement Services for Lighthouse International in NYC.
Her professional and volunteer activities reflect a genuine passion for equal access for people with disabilities. Ms. O’Connor currently serves on the board of City Access New York and had previously served as a member of the Executive Board of the Mental Health Association in Putnam County.
“Janice brings a wealth of experience, particularly in the employment and vocational rehab fields, that will serve to strengthen our board’s expertise in this area,” says Susan Olivo, Executive Director. “She will be joining an impassioned group of people who are dedicated to improving the lives of blind and visually impaired people. We are delighted to welcome her on the Board.”
