Philanthropy New York Welcomes Amy Chen as Executive Coordinator and Secretary to the Board
Philanthropy New York is excited to welcome Amy Chen as our new Executive Coordinator and Secretary to the Board as of June 27!In her role, Amy facilitates the operations of the Executive Office and acts as a liaison to the Board, Philanthropy New York members, and staff. She works in close collaboration across all PNY departments to plan and manage organization-wide projects and reports, member and board events and meetings, and draft communications from the President and CEO. While new to philanthropy, Amy has extensive experience in administration, project management, and development in the nonprofit cultural sector.
Prior to joining PNY, she worked at the Museum of Modern Art as the Project Manager responsible for devising and implementing an institution-wide system for GDPR compliance. Previous to that role she oversaw a multitude of initiatives in the Office of the Associate Director, from Board acquisition committee meetings to internal working groups to artist residencies and mentorship programs to exhibitions. Having always been deeply committed to the arts, Amy started her professional career as the administrator of a curatorial department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she was involved with planning the department’s Friends group and donor events.
Amy holds a B.A. in Art History from Barnard College and an M.A. in French Cultural Studies from Columbia University GSAS’s joint program with Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po). She is also the founder of Fabula Formosa, an online platform highlighting the stories and wares of artisans and creators from Taiwan. During her leisure time, she enjoys digital design, film editing, adventure and cultural travel, researching and cooking different cuisines, and mixology.
