New York Community Trust names Dominick Impemba as new chief operating and finance officer
New York (June 26, 2023) – The New York Community Trust announced today that Dominick Impemba will be the organization’s new chief operating and finance officer beginning July 10, 2023.
“We are thrilled to have Dominick on board as we begin our next century of service,” said Amy Freitag, president of the New York Community Trust, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year. “Dominick’s deep nonprofit and philanthropic expertise will be essential as we build on our incredible history to meet the growing needs of the 12.4 million New Yorkers we serve from the lower Hudson Valley to the East End of Long Island.”
“As a life-long New Yorker, I am truly excited to have the opportunity to work with the Trust staff and improve the lives of the people across this region, who are facing unprecedented challenges,” said Impemba. “I will always be grateful to the Rockefeller Foundation for giving me the chance to contribute to their mission, and I will miss the wonderful people that I had the honor to work with there.”
Financial stewardship of The Trust’s more than 2,000 funds, which total approximately $3.2 billion, will be a core function of the COO/CFO position, as well as guiding the investment in new systems, technology and operations for one of the nation’s largest and most storied community foundations. As the COO/CFO, which is a new position at The Trust, Impemba will lead the departments handling finance, human resources, information technology, and administration.
With the arrival of Impemba, The Trust’s interim CFO, Leisle Lin, will leave next month.
“I cannot thank Leisle enough for putting her expertise to work this past year at The Trust,” said Freitag. “She has been invaluable and a joy to work with.”
Impemba comes to The Trust from the Rockefeller Foundation, where he was most recently the treasurer and chief financial officer, overseeing the organization’s financial planning and reporting, accounting activities, annual audit, as well as playing key roles in risk management, payroll, and benefits. He began with the Rockefeller Foundation in 2010 as controller. Prior to that, he was the audit senior manager for nonprofit organizations and universities with KPMG LLP. A resident of Wantagh, Long Island, Impemba received a bachelor’s degree from Iona College in 1996 and is a certified public accountant.
