National Security Expert Sally Donnelly Joins Rockefeller Brothers Fund as Senior Fellow
This spring, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund will welcome Sally Donnelly as a non-resident senior fellow. Ms. Donnelly will bring extensive experience in U.S. national security affairs to support the Fund’s work by monitoring and interpreting developments in the national security community, strengthening relationships with key influencers in the U.S. and abroad, and examining policy proposals to manage global challenges and prevent and resolve conflicts.
Ms. Donnelly started her career as a journalist with TIME, where she worked for more than 20 years. She reported on foreign affairs and national security issues, including traveling to cover the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and as a correspondent based in Moscow. In 2007, she entered public service in the Department of Defense, first for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and then with U.S. Central Command in Washington, D.C. After establishing her own strategic consulting firm in 2013, Ms. Donnelly returned to the Pentagon in 2016 as senior advisor to Secretary of Defense James Mattis, a post she left in March 2018.
“Bringing a remarkable network and expertise honed over years of experience, Sally will be an insightful thought partner in the RBF’s support for innovative solutions to a variety of global challenges and efforts to transform conflicts that have roiled the wider Middle East and the world,” said Rockefeller Brothers Fund President Stephen Heintz. “At this critical juncture for our own country’s role in the global community, Sally’s national security, political, and communications acumen will greatly bolster the Fund’s efforts to establish pathways toward greater international peace, security, and global sustainability.”
