Nathan Cummings Foundation Names Ernest Tollerson Interim CEO
 
Ernest Tollerson has been named interim CEO of the Nathan Cummings Foundation.
 
Tollerson, who previously served as a trustee of the foundation from 2003-2013, including a three-year term as board chair, comes to his new post from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, where he has been Director of Environmental Sustainability and Compliance since 2010.
 
Over the course of his career, Tollerson has worked as a reporter and editor at newspapers including the Philadelphia Inquirer and New York Newsday, where he was the editorial page editor, and the New York Times, where he was first a national correspondent and later a member of its editorial board.
 
Currently, he is a trustee of the Hudson River Foundation and the New York Historical Society. He is also a former member of the management board of the Environmental Grantmakers Association, the affinity group for U.S.-based foundations that fund environmental NGOs and projects, and a former member of the board of Demos, a nonpartisan hub for research, ideas and action to promote the common good.
