Mia Vukojevic Joins Rockefeller Brothers to Lead Western Balkans Program
The Rockefeller Brothers Fund announced today that Mia Vukojevic has joined its staff as program director for the Pivotal Place: Western Balkans program.
Ms. Vukojevic’s career in public service spans nearly 25 years, including humanitarian aid and grantmaking across five continents. She comes to the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) from the Oak Foundation, where since 2015 she was a program officer for the Issues Affecting Women Programme based in Geneva, Switzerland. Prior to her tenure at the Oak Foundation, Mia worked with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe as a monitoring and reporting officer for the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine and served as executive director for the Trag Foundation in Serbia, an RBF grantee that supports active citizen participation in social and democratic institutions and acts as a hub for local civil society organizations. Ms. Vukojevic began her career at Oxfam Great Britain and then Oxfam Canada, managing humanitarian emergency response programs.
“Mia’s expertise and deep relationships in southeastern Europe, coupled with her extensive experience in multinational organizations, allow her to situate the RBF’s Western Balkans portfolio in a global context and to develop and advance strategies for a rapidly changing civil society landscape in the region,” said Betsy Campbell, vice president for programs at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. “With her strong track record of engaging civil society, international organizations, governments, and grantmaking institutions, Mia will carry forward the work of the Fund and its grantees toward greater collaboration, accountability, civic participation, and sustainability.”
The Rockefeller Brothers Fund has been engaged in grantmaking in the Western Balkans since 2001 and currently focuses on Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina to facilitate the process of European Union integration. Ms. Vukojevic replaces Haki Abazi, who served as the Western Balkans Program Director for more than 10 years until June 2017.
