LIBN’s 2013 Outstanding CEO Gregory Demetriou Appointed to Long Island Community Foundation Foundation Board of Advisors

Gregory DemetriouThe Long Island Community Foundation proudly announces the appointment of Gregory P. Demetriou, CEO of the Lorraine Gregory Corp., to its Board of Advisors.

Demetriou, a former NYPD detective and 1981 Medal of Honor recipient, formed the Lorraine Gregory Corporation and purchased Bi-County Mailing, a small mailing company in Bethpage, N.Y. in 1992. Demetriou has piloted the growth and expansion of the company to its current place in the Long Island business landscape. Bi-County Mailing has become a well-known and respected provider of direct mail services to a wide range of businesses and organizations throughout the region. In addition, under Demetriou’s leadership, Lorraine Gregory Corp. has acquired a printing company and envelope provider, established an online envelope store, created a promotional items department and transformed the structure of the company to a comprehensive marketing communications provider as the Lorraine Gregory Communications Group.

In 2012, Demetriou participated in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses educational and business development program, and in 2013 he was named one of Long Island’s Outstanding CEOs by Long Island Business News.

Demetriou serves on the Board of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals Long Island Chapter (AFPLI), which honored him as the 2008 Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer of the Year. He is also a member of the Business Advisory Committee of AHRC Suffolk and has participated in and volunteered for numerous organizations, including Bethpage Rotary Club; Printing Industry Alliance; Long Island Direct Marketing Association; NY Direct Marketing Club; Long Island Association (LIA); Hauppauge Industrial Association (HIA); the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; Fraternal Order of Police; and the Chambers of Commerce in Farmingdale, Melville and Queens, N.Y.
