The F. B. Heron Foundation has announced the appointment of Ian Magee as its new Vice President of Finance and Operations. Before joining Heron, Magee served as the Executive Director of Strategy and Research at the University of Chicago, having first joined the university as its Director of Financial Strategy in 2009. Prior to that appointment, he held positions of increasing responsibility over an eight-year span at American Express, serving in various finance, strategy and business development roles (culminating in his position as Vice President), and was regarded as an expert on card economics, co-branded card partnerships and loyalty programs.
Prior to American Express, Magee served as an Associate with the Mitchell Madison Group, working in several cities across Europe and North America. Magee also serves as a volunteer mentor to a young adult in Chicago as part of the federally funded Economic Mentor Program, run by UCAN, to help prevent juvenile detention, and has worked as a mathematics tutor for The Door, which provides comprehensive youth development services for disadvantaged youth in New York City. Magee received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Engineering degrees, both in Mechanical Engineering & Economics, from the University of Cambridge.
