Bettina Alonso and Eugene Keilin Elected to United Hospital Fund Board
Bettina Alonso and Eugene Keilin have been elected to the United Hospital Fund’s board of directors.
Bettina Alonso is the executive director of development for the Archdiocese of New York, providing strategic direction for the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal, the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation, New York Catholic Foundation, and St. Patrick’s Landmark Foundation. Prior to joining the Archdiocese, Ms. Alonso was vice president of global development at Oceana, an international advocacy organization working for ocean conservation, and she also served as marketing manager for the Embassy of Austria. Born in Spain and fluent in English, Spanish, and German, she received a BA in political science, an MS in International Affairs, and a diploma of advanced studies from Universidad Nacional de Educacion a Distancia. She received a certificate of business excellence from Columbia University graduate school of business and attended the Heyman Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising at NYU.
Eugene Keilin is the chairman of Maimonides Medical Center and is the co-founder of KPS Capital Partners, a family of private equity funds. Mr. Keilin was also the founding principal of Keilin & Co. LLC, an investment banking firm specializing in providing advisory services in connection with financial restructuring and bankruptcy transactions. Prior to founding both of these companies, he was a general partner of Lazard Frères & Co. He has served as executive director and later as chairman of the Municipal Assistance Corporation for the City of New York, created in 1975 to deal with the City’s fiscal crisis. In addition, he was chairman of the Citizens Budget Commission from 1999 to 2002, and remains a member of its Executive Committee. Currently, he is an emeritus director of Concern Worldwide, U.S., an international famine relief and development organization with its world headquarters in Ireland, and also is on the board of advisers of the Curtis Institute of Music. He is a graduate of Rice University and Harvard Law School.
