The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has announced the appointment of Helene Gordon to the position of Senior Director of Licensing & Retail development.
"We are looking forward to tapping into Helene's expertise and her 20 years of experience in the licensing industry," said Elysia Howard, Vice President of Marketing & Licensing for the ASPCA. "Helene's proven track record of excellence in licensing and retail development at esteemed companies such as The Jim Henson Company, Nickelodeon, Scholastic and most recently Peanuts Worldwide will be a crucial resource as we continue to grow our licensing program that helps support the life-saving work the ASPCA does each day."
The ASPCA's Marketing & Licensing department, which ranked 65th on License! Global magazine's Top 125 Global Licensors List for 2011, specializes in partnering with outside companies to raise awareness and revenue for the ASPCA’s animal welfare programs. Partner companies benefit from the respect and recognition the ASPCA brand elicits in consumers' minds while enjoying the rewards of increased sales and customer loyalty.
Gordon began her career with The Jim Henson Company, where she was responsible for securing new business in the United States and Canada. She then held similar business and retail development roles at both Nickelodeon and Scholastic. After several years as a licensor, she moved over to the licensee side where she secured new properties for Happy Kids, Inc., a major children's apparel company. She then spent the last 11 years working in both domestic and international business development and brand management roles for Peanuts Worldwide. In that role, she traveled extensively throughout Japan, Asia and Europe, developing global brand and consumer products programs to build awareness and visibility for the Peanuts brand.
