Join the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers for a Site Visit Tour through parts of Newark, Bergen and Hudson Counties as we learn from experts about the effects of Sandy's storm surge on Northern New Jersey and the damaging impact to community infrastructure and the power grid.
Speakers will include experts in the field and representatives from the Long Term Recovery Committees working in these communities. We will also learn about mitigation efforts in development in Newark, Hoboken and Moonachie/Little Ferry.
Agenda
- 9:15 a.m. All participants arrive at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield (allow time to come through security)
- 9:30 a.m. Morning Briefing Session (includes guest speakers from the Ironbound Community Corporation & The Reinvestment Fund)
- 11:00 a.m. Site visit of a PSEG Power/Substation
- 12:30 p.m. Moonachie/Little Ferry site visit (includes the Meadowlands Environmental Research Institute's Data and Sandy Sea Surge presentation)
- 2:30 p.m. Site visit of Hoboken (includes guest speakers from the Mayor's Office, Hoboken Relief Fund and others)
- 4:00 p.m. Return to Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield in Newark/Adjournment
