The employee handbook isn’t the most popular or exciting read in an organization—until, in a time of need or keen interest, an employee seeks to review office expectations and policies. Ergo, maintaining a current handbook is an important task. But how often should an organization revise its handbook? And at what point does comprehensive detail sacrifice flexibility?

In addition to conversations about the structure and nature of employee handbooks, we’ll discuss recent developments and their secondary effects. (For example, does the legalization of same-sex marriage have implications for domestic partner coverage?). Finally, we’ll explore trends and new policies and benefits that, while not legally required, we might consider for our own foundations.

Attendees are highly encouraged to bring questions or their own novel policies and ideas to the meeting as we work together towards documenting a workplace structure that enables our employees to work to their fullest potential.
