As New York’s budget negotiations unfold amid economic uncertainty and shifting federal policies, philanthropy has an important role to play in understanding the fiscal landscape shaping communities across the state. The Fiscal Policy Institute (FPI) team will provide an overview of the process of state budgets and share an analysis of the most recent New York State Executive Budget. The discussion will explore the state’s fiscal and economic outlook, key revenue and spending trends, tax policy considerations, and the potential impacts of federal policy changes—including implications for Medicaid and SNAP following H.R. 1.
