The economic crisis and its toll on private and government funding, coupled with shifts and trends in the giving patterns of large foundations, have caused many in the social justice sector -- including human and civil rights, anti-poverty and environmental organizations -- to do some soul-searching about where their funding is going to come from, in the near and longer term. The challenge is clear, but creative thinking is beginning to emerge about how to expand and diversify sources of support for these critical efforts.
Join us as Gara LaMarche, Senior Fellow at NYU's Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service and the Tides Foundation, provides an overview of the challenge. Comments will follow from Anna Burger, former Secretary-Treasurer of Service Employees International Union, Peter Murray, founder of the Progressive Leadership Project and Tides Foundation Fellow.
