Like many funders, the F.B. Heron Foundation experienced a decline in its charitable assets during the past two years. At the same time, the Foundation recognized that many of its grantees had opportunities to support low-income families through the economic downturn and to inform developing government policies. In response, Heron created an Opportunity Fund to support its grantees as they worked to create and preserve wealth for low-income families. We are pleased to have John Weiler, Heron’s Senior Program Officer, describe the Fund and its work for us.
