Accountability for corporate operations and policies can have a profound impact on the racial, economic, environmental and social issues philanthropy seeks to address. As asset owners and investors, foundations have a powerful – and largely untapped - opportunity to leverage the totality of their assets to make an impact beyond grantmaking. Shareholder engagement and advocacy is an effective tool that adds leverage to our efforts to help us to drive impact while also increasing long-term shareholder value.

Please join us to learn more about shareholder engagement opportunities, including practical tools, strategies and resources to complement the work of partners on the ground and help drive more equitable outcomes across programmatic priorities. You will hear directly from the Nathan Cummings Foundation and the Woodcock Foundation who leading efforts to shift corporate behavoir via shareholder activisitm and Jobs to Move America, which has used shareholder engagement to secure the first community benefits agreement in the history of the US South, including unionization for thousands of workers in the green economy.
