The NYC Youth and Education Funders Working Group will host a bi-monthly funders only webinar to share philanthropic responses and organizing efforts around COVID-19.
Every two weeks, the group will invite representatives from philanthropy, government and nonprofit organizations to share real time updates about COVID-19 related policy issues, advocacy efforts and service-delivery challenges that impact NYC’s students and youth.
With one stroke, the loss of SYEP eliminated 75,000 kids’ summer jobs, income that many families depend on, and real-world learning experiences that prepare students for a wide array of careers. Yet an opportunity has emerged from the crisis: a coalition of nonprofit, industry, and government partners have created a plan called YES: Youth Empowerment Summer. This is an extraordinary opportunity to engage tens of thousands of young people in the digital skills of the 21st century workforce — coding, digital design, digital content creation/curation, web quality assurance, and virtual certification programs.
Join NYC Youth and Education Funders to learn about how YES will leverage an unprecedented level of collaboration among industry, the nonprofit sector, and government.
