In September 2015, 193 member States of the United Nations adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a call for action by all countries, poor, rich and middle-income to promote prosperity while protecting the planet.
The call is being sounded not just in government circles, but across sectors, including corporate. There’s a case being made that the SDGs represent an unprecedented opportunity for companies to align their own sustainability goals with broader societal goals.
Join us for a roundtable conversation where corporate philanthropy stakeholders will gather to learn more about the SDGs and the economic opportunity argument behind them. We’ll discuss why there’s been an uptick in interest in the SDGs among a variety of corporate stakeholders, such as investors, consumers, and C-suite executives. Corporate colleagues will share examples of how corporations are using the SDG framework for both their philanthropic work and core business. They’ll talk about added value of mapping to the SDGs, including as a communications tool to summarize their work to internal and external audiences. We’ll close by exploring together the unique role corporate philanthropy can play in helping their companies balance business and grantmaking interests with SDG goals.
