ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Ford Foundation’s People and Organizational Development team (P&OD) seeks a collaborative, strategic, team-oriented Manager of People Development (Manager) to manage, support and lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of global professional and organizational development programs and initiatives. 

 

Reporting to the Global Director, P&OD, the Manager will hold a variety of responsibilities related to  leadership, team, and organizational development; training and coaching; and change management to drive employee growth and organizational effectiveness. P&OD is part of the People & Culture (P&C) team. The Manager works in close collaboration with HR Business Partners (called P&C Partners), Organizational Effectiveness and Excellence team and other learning-centered teams within the foundation. 

 

The ideal candidate will enjoy working on a small team, possess strong client-relationship and communication skills, and have a knack for managing multiple priorities effectively. They will see this role as an opportunity to expand their ability to design and deliver comprehensive development programs that contribute to the foundation's organizational culture.

 

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

  • Assess individual professional development and organizational learning needs

  • Advise and collaborate on providing career development resources and learning events

  • Develop curriculum and facilitate content delivery and evaluation

  • Manage content delivered via key systems/platforms like Workday, the foundation’s intranet and online learning portal

  • Conduct course evaluations and prepare reports for management

  • Analyze data and prepare reports on professional development utilization rates

  • Oversee the assessment and tracking of required skills and qualifications

  • Identify and manage external training providers

  • Plan and lead learning sessions

  • Provide individual coaching and contribute to team development and coaching

  • Manage and refine a robust on-boarding and off-boarding program

  • Support the foundation’s Alumni Network, including its LinkedIn group and daily activities.

  • Contribute to the design and development of the annual performance alignment cycle

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • At least 5 years of work experience; with 3 years of experience working within an in-house human resources or learning function

  • Exceptional client-relationship skills; interpersonal communications, written communication, and responsiveness

  • Ability to effectively manage several priorities at any given time

  • Experience delivering basic HR training (behavioral interviewing, anti-harassment prevention, etc.)

  • In-depth knowledge of online training platforms and providers

  • Ways of working and engaging that align with the Foundation’s mission and values

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Organizational Development, Adult Learning, Human Resources, Change Management, or related field

 

HELPFUL BUT NOT REQUIRED

  • Certifications in coaching, organizational development, change management, communications, leadership 360 feedback, or related psychometric assessments

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position is primarily a sedentary role. The manager will be required to engage in oral group facilitation and one-on-one oral consultations online and in person. The person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to liaise with internal staff, access files, office machinery and a copy machine/printer.

SALARY: The Ford Foundation is committed to salary transparency. The salary for this position is $120,000. We review global compensation regularly to ensure market competitiveness and equity.

 

LOCATION & TRAVEL: This position is based in the foundation’s New York office. We operate in a hybrid model and require staff to be in the office three days per week. Travel is not required to carry out the day to day functions of the role. Opportunities for travel may arise.  

 

WORK AUTHORIZATION: This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: This is a full-time permanent position.
