Strategic volunteerism is a critical component of how corporations harness the time and talent of employees at all levels to support nonprofit partners and meet community needs. The Service for Impact working group, rooted in the principles of Reimagining Service, provides a unique opportunity for both corporate grantmakers and corporate volunteer managers to foster a peer network, share successes and challenges, brainstorm on solutions, and explore new opportunities to make a difference in society while supporting business objectives through volunteerism.
This years’ Service for Impact working group will build on past years’ dynamic learning but add a new approach. The focus of this year’s meetings will be to uncover new and stronger proof of business impact of employee volunteer programs that meet community needs, thus moving the employee volunteer programs from a nice to have to a need to have for internal stakeholders.
In the first meeting this year, on November 12th, we focused on uncovering examples of how employee volunteerism can serve true community needs and also solve business challenges such as retention, engagement score, and talent development. Attendees shared examples of business challenges they have solved or will solve through high-impact volunteer engagements that address community needs.
In this second meeting on March 11, 2020, we will focus dig deeper into which type of corporate volunteer programs drive which type of business impact and the role that social and community impact plays.
